Operator's Outliine
C. Area SF is for all activities performed after extraction of the limestone. This
incbudes processing, stockpiling, product distribution, etc.
IV. Stormwater Management
A. All Stormwater management is to be done in accordance with the approved
Stormwater Management Plan.
B. Stormwater management facilities are to be installed by May 27, 1994.
C. InsT~ection of Stormwater management condition should be done, at a
minimum, in accordance with the schedule stated in the management plan.
During the summer months (May through September) all Stormwater facilities
should be checked after each thunderstorm that creates a significant amount of
precipitation (produces heavy flows).
D. The Stormwater management facilities (sediment basins, culverts, etc.) should
be maintained throughout the year. Normally sediment basins should be
cleaned out in the winter, but if they fill during the summer as a result of
unusually heavy storms they should be cleaned. Otherwise, the capabilities of
the system to control sediment could become ineffective and result in a possible
violation of the federal Clean Water Act.
V. Topsoil Removal
A. Whenever native topsoils are encountered, review the requirements for salvage •
and storage stated th the Mining Plan.
B. Wherever native topsoils are encountered, all efforts should be made to salvage
as much as possible. Stockpile the soil separate from other materials, protect it
from contamination with mining wastes or other materials, and protect it from
erosion. Topsoil stockpiling should not be done in drainage courses.
C. Protection by seeding should be done in accordance with the seed mixture and
methods described in the Topsoiling section of the Reclamation Plan.
VI. Mining Methods
A. Because the final topography to be established in the reclamation is to be
created in Areas MV and MS through mining, considerable care must be
exercised in the mining.
B. Use of the Bench Geometry Model (in the Mining Plan)
1. Before using this model, review the description in the Mining Plan.
2. The model is designed to aid Castle Concrete in determining the
appropriate bench step width in a particular area so the fmal average
slope gradient can be produced as close to design as possible.
3. Not utilizing this model may result in an average slope that is steeper
than allowed by the permit.
4. It is best to set up the model on a computer spreadsheet and do the
calculations there, as they are quite involved to perform manually.
Copies of the model are available in Lotus 123, QtramoPro, and •
SuperCalc formats.
Page 2 Pikeview Quarry Amendment
