shattering the rockface in order to provide variation of light and shadow. The •
technical issues of doing so will be examined in order to determine feasibility.
The visual effect of this technique will also be analyzed by the state as part of it3
computer graphic analysis of visual changes at the Pikeview, the Queens
Canyon, and Snyder quarries.
C) SNYDER QUARRY:
The Snyder Quarry presents different reclamation requirements th<rn
either the Pikeview or Queens Canyon quarries. Significantly higher precipitation
amounts at this site, a different geology, and recently revised reclamation plans
which emphasize wider bench widths, should provide more favorable factors for
short-term and long-term revegetation. •
It is anticipated that additional reclamation improvements can be
made at the Snyder quarry. These will include revegetating the backslopes of
the visual benches with species that will more rapidly produce good cover for
visibility and address erosion control concerns. It may also include placing
mulch matts (i.e. agronomy blankets} on the back slopes, and/or benches, to
improve the environment for revegetation. Fertilizer will be used to enhance
vegetative growth. Mountain mahogany is adapting wel! to the berm sites at this
current time and should be maintained.
IV. CONCLUSION
These recommendations, reclamation guidelines and concepts are
intended to aid further discussions with the state, local governments and Castle
-s-
