There aze concerns relative to the effect this expanded de-watering and mining operation
will have on underground aquifers in the region. This important issue has not been addressed.
There are numerous wetlands downstream of the mining operation on the nearby South Platte
River and on tributaries to the river. What will be the short and long term impacts to these
existing wetlands? The surface area for the two proposed permanent water storage reservoirs
will be approximately 120 acres. What will be the long-term, annual evaporative water loss from
the two reservoirs?
The NRCS and West Adams Conservation District will be available to review this amended
reclamation permit application again after the above issues have been appropriately addressed.
Should you have questions, please call.
Sinc ely,
ene Backhaus
Acting District Conservationist
