Please note the following
remarks.
1. The revised page number (IV-23) was in error. It has been corrected as Page IV-24./
2. The construction of permanent ditch segments in refuse area 2/3 perimeter collection
ditches and refuse area 4 perimeter collection ditches will be delayed until the final
reclamation. Similarly, the revegetation of collection ditches currently subject to
deposition of cooly sediment and frequent maintenance will be completed after the final
revegetation of refuse piles are completed. Measures will be taken to control sediment
and ditch erosion in interim ditches. Such measures may include some or all of Ute
following: (i) temporary rock check dams (see Fgure IV-1), (ii) straw bale check
dams, (iii) dug out sediment Vap (see Fgure IV-2), (iv) rip rap or other ditch lining,
(v) contour ditching along slopes of refuse areas, (vi) land imprinting using sheep's foot
compactor for refuse area slopes and (vii) use of a darifying agent (Nalco Enact 7888
or equivalent) for decreasing settling Ume in sediment ponds. The river rock riprap
currently in place will not be removed unless the interim measures to control erosion
is determined to be unsuccessful. Catch basins will be installed in the eastern RP-2/3
collection ditch about every 100 feet to intercept sediments. If the interim measures
are proven unsuccesful after the first predpitation event, the ditch riprap will be
removed and replaced after installing an underline filter. However, the permanent ditch
segments not affected by the final redamation will be riprapped with graded, angular
and durable rocks. Map 77 identifies the a ent segments. ?
l>haf S~ e R,~`~
3. Refuse area 5 perimeter ditches are constructed. Seeding of these ditches in all
segments except those requiring rip rap placement, the fill slopes of the RP5 pond,
and the areas adjoining these disturbed areas, will be completed in the fall of 1996.
Suite #305
405 Urban Street
Izke~vood, Colorado 80228
Telephone 303/988-9626
Telecopier 303/9868147
