<br />The Division of Minerals and Geo!o~y hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116,
<br />Paragraph 4, of [he Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 9, 1999, an application to revue coal mining
<br />operations at the West Elk Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by
<br />Ivloun[ain Coal Company, LLC. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate
<br />from this date of filing.
<br />MCC proposes an update and revision of their hydrologic monitoring program.
<br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles east of Paonia, Colorado. The
<br />permit area is further described as follows:
<br />Portions or all of Sections 9, 10, I5, 17. I8, l9, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34, 35, and 36, Township
<br />13 South, Range 90 West of the 6th P.M.; and portions or all of Sections 23, 24, 25, and 26, Township 13 South,
<br />Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Somerset and Bowie.
<br />A copy of [he technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Gunnison County Courthouse,
<br />200 E Virginia, Gunnison, CO 81230, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written
<br />comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215. 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203,
<br />(303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted
<br />within fifteen (IS) days of this letter. If no comments are received by then, we will proceed on the assumption that
