shop bench. By grading the elope north of the shop and realigning the
drainage on the shop bench, this volume can be reduced to about 5 cfs
since the original Grading and Drainage Map was drafted in April 1985.
Therefore, when the sediment pond is completed, there should be far more
capacity in the pond than is needed because the pond will be constructed
for the 11 cfs volume.
The additional 6 cfs which originally went over or along the aide
of the shop slope, will be redirected to the vest of the shop into the
mayor drainage channel extending under the road and into the lover
sediment pond. This provides for a more controllable situation and also
helps divide the water flow between separate areas. The drainage will
contain a 72" steel pipe under the road from the processing area to the
shop (see map). Currently, the eater is supposed to be directed using a
ditch, but such ditching cannot be maintained under heavy traffic. The
pipe will be obtained from the pipe which vas removed from over Academy
Boulevard at the Sand Pit operation.
BACRFILL OF OLD ACCESS ROAD: The original plan called for ripping and
revegetating the old access road to the quarry. Although this plan
could be carried out, there seems to be a better alternative which would
result in a better topography and greater similarity with surrounding
lands.
South of the large drainage channel extending from the settlings
ponds above the road through this area, is the large backfill of subsoil
and parent material obtained when the current access road was built.
This area has been fully revegetated and produces heavily. However, to
the north of the drainage channel the situation is quite different.
s
Page 4 of 6 Pikeview TR N0.6 July 1987
