i , Bailers will be cleaned, prior to initial use, and after each
subsequent use, in the following manner:
(1) Non-phosphatic detergent and tap water wash.
' (2) Tap water rinse.
(3) Final rinse with de-ionized water.
(4) Total air dry.
(5) Wrapped in aluminum foil or plastic immediately after
' cleaning.
' 2.2.2 Samnle Containers: Containers used in the collection of samples
will be supplied by the laboratory performing the analysis. The
type of container used for sample collection will be dictated by
the parameter(s) for which the sample is to be analyzed. A listing
of the appropriate containers and preservatives for specific
' parameters is presented in Table 5.
' 2.2.3 Sample Collection and HandlinP: The field sampling personnel will be
responsible for complete documentation of sampling, which will be
' kept in the Field Data Collection Sheet, in ink, for the
preservation of all samples and for maintaining chain-of-custody
' records for all samples until they are shipped to the laboratory
for analysis. Weather conditions will be noted, such as
' temperature, ice cover on ponds, etc.
' 2.2.4 Ground Water SamplinP: It is expected that the condition of the
wells and their ability to yield water may vary from one well to
' another due to the hydrogeologic properties of the aquifer at any
given location.
' It may be necessary, therefore, for the field sampling personnel to
modify procedures as sampling progresses so that ground water
samples obtained from monitoring wells are representative of water
' -13-
CJ
