base ol'the canyon (719, 74(,-2286). He has given permission w the USFS to enter his property <br />and conduct surveys for owls. No owls were detected. All components of suitable habitat are <br />present in Maes Creek, including moist narrow canyon tributaries, a mature mixed conifer com- <br />ponent in the drainage bottom and rocky cliffs and outcroppings. <br />Apache Creek: One survey was conducted into this canyon on 08 June and no owls were de- <br />tected. <br />Little Fountair- Creek: One survey was conducted on 23 June and no owls were detected. <br />Rock Creek: One survey was conducted on 7 June and no owls were detected. <br />ACKNOWLEDGMENTS <br />This report was written by Peter Gaede (USFS- San Carlos R.D.) and reviewed by Erik Brekke <br />(BLM- Canon City). 1999 Mexican Spotted Owl surveys were made possible by joint coopera- <br />tion from the BLM (Canon City) and USFS (San Carlos and Pikes Peak Districts).
