Page 2 Response to 5-28-2003 Adequacy Review June 20, 2003
2. Some concrete storage bins and pads have been poured on the north side of the area
proposed for release. Please include these features in the reclamation plan, describe
their function and how they support the revised residential post-mining land use for
this small percentage of the permit.
Operator Response:
The concrete bins and pads that you refer to, were part of a portable scale foundation.
The entire scale and associated concrete features that you refer to have been removed
from the site.
3. The knob located to the west of the residence/shop yard does not appear to be
~- -- - - - - - -consistent with that post mining land use. It appears to oe a mined off knob that
needs to be reclaimed per the approved reclamation plan Please remove thrs knob
from the area to be released or juste it's inclusion in the area designated forpost-
mining land use.
Ocerator Response•
The knob located west of the residence/shop is a specific feature that has been
preserved by the land owner, it functions as an elevated portion to the equipment
storage yard and is stabilized with pit run gavel. The elevated portion has also been
reserved as the elevated future home site for the owner.
9. The slope to the east of the residence is not considered to be stabilized until adequate
vegetation is established to minimize erosion and weed infestation This area will
need to be removed from the area proposed to be released unless adequate vegetation
is established there now.
Ocerator Response:
The slope in question is less than 20 feet behind the residence/shop and literalty
constitutes the back yard of the residence. While the slope does not at this time have
established grass cover the land owner is performing residenteal landscaping and has
planted some trees at this time and has protected the slope with erosion matting that is
being incorporated into the landscaping of the back yard slope.
S. This technical revision, tfapproved will not result in release ofthe proposed area, it
just facilitates it's release. A release request must be submitted per rule 4.16, and
approved by DMG, to secure release of the residential portion proposed to be
removed from the permit area.
Operator Response•
The operator is aware of this requirement and will be submitting request for release
under separate cover in accordance with the rule.
P(1 Bar 781 • 509-1550 tPd • t9eba, CO 81416 • (970) 874 - 5183
