<br />WILDLIFE <br /> <br />E X H I H I TI <br />The Bernard Nine Pit is located 27 miles southeast of <br />Colorado. Access to the situ is via an existing range <br />road 1,000 feet long and a 500 foot haul road from F'rowers <br />Road 19. The pit is surrounded by existing rangeland. <br />The area is generally a shortgrass rangeland with mi::ed gr <br />and fortis. Wildlife species common to the shortgrass r.:,n~ <br />could 6e erpected to be present on site. No species <br />observed during a field review on March 2, 1984. <br />D <br />anu:r . <br />oi..int i <br />as5c-,~ <br />el . n~i <br />w~; t. <br />Species of wildlife which could inhabit the site include i~e~~rt: <br />cottontail, Plains harvest mouse, Western harvest mouse. 1•iu I.:r-at, <br />Coyote, Mule deer, Red-tailed hawk, Scaled quail, omrr~on <br />nighthawk, Western meadowlark, 8ullsnake and Prairie rattle nak:e. <br />Other species could be expected due to nomadic or mig story <br />movements including passerines, raptors, small mammals, ro ents. <br />and desert reptiles. No known threatened or endangered s ecies <br />are known to inhabit tho site. <br />This operation will temporarily disturb a 9.9 acre part 1 of <br />rangeland. This site is, however, surrounded by similar h bitat <br />and the operation is not expected to have any perceptible 'mpact <br />on wildlife species. <br />A Division of Wildlife report is attached. <br />W A TER <br />There is no ponded surface water present an the site. Mo <br />resulting from occasional precipitation events may tend to <br />before being absorbed by the soil. Two Butte Creek south <br />area to be mined will not bo affected by the mining operati <br />to a 50U foot setback. Water for dust suppression will be <br />on the pit access road and will be trucked to the site. <br />will be no project water requirements (e>:cept for dust sub <br />sion).
