The calculation is provided so that a bond amount qn be calculated for the
reclamation.
Cost Estimate Assumptions
The equipment, steel structures, conveyors, and offices on the site have salvage values
greater than the cost of removal. Therefore, the cost of equipment removal or demolition
was not included in this calculation under the assumption that it nets to zero dollars.
The calculations for the concrete include all the structures that are above ground
surface. Buried foundations, footings, and tunnels were not incuded in the calculation.
However, the building floors and concrete pavement in the plant area were included in
the calculation and a uniform thickness of one foot was assumed.
The site was divided into two areas for the estimate; the north part of the site is referred
to as the Grinding portion, and the south part is referred to as the Burning portion. This
division between the two processes allows a separate bond calculation in the event that
the plant is modified so that only the Grinding process occurs in the future. The drawing
included with this report depicts the division.
Two cost estimates are presented for razing the plant. Cost Estimate A (Table 1)
assumes that all concrete is crushed to various sizes, and that the material is sold as
aggregate. For this estimate, the salvage value of the aggregate was conservatively
assumed to equal the cost of crushing, thereby saving the disposal cost for this option.
Cost Estimate B (Table 2) assumes that the concrete is broken into manageable sizes
and is disposed of on the site.
The demolition costs for the buildings on the site were calculated using values based on
the volume of the buildings as they stand (Table 3). It was assumed that the interior
