~ ~. ~ •
J SECTION 5.0
J EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION
5.1 pH ADJUSTMENT TANK (04-TR-09)
i The tank is constructed of steel and lined with rubber to
resist abrasion. The tank is fitted with a cover, through
which the four air sparge pipes are sealed. The agitator
_. shaft passes through the cover, and is sealed' to it by a
close-fitting rubber diaphragm. A sleeve attached to the
cover and surrounding the shaft extends down to the static
slurry level in the tank to further limit the possibility
of leakage of gas.
5.2 CARBON SAFETY SCREEN (04-SC-10)
The Carbon Safety Screen is totally enclosed, and the
enclosure vented to the Fume Scrubber via the ducting
system. The feed inlet pipe from the pH Adjustment Tank to
the screen is sealed to the screen enclosure. Oversize from
_ the screen discharges via a pipe to a drum at gmound level.
The drum is _fitted with a rubber lid, _through whiich the pipe
is s`e3~. The screen underflow is collected in a sealed
~ underpan from which it flows in a pipe to the Tailings
~ Hopper.
5.3 TAILINGS HOPPER (04-HP-02)
~.,.
~,
~.
~.
^.,
1,
R.
I.,
The Tailings Hopper is covered, and all pipe penetrations
through the cover are sealed. The hopper is fitted with an
overflow pipe which discharges into the Thickened Area Sump,
outside the building. The sump pump 03-PP-15 returns
spillage to the thickener or to the Tailings Bump Hopper.
5.4 DUCTING
The pH Adjustment Tank, Carbon Safety Screen and Tailings
Hopper are all connected, via ductwork, to the Fume
Scrubber. The ductwork is constructed of fiber reinforced
plastic (FRP) and all flanges are fitted with soft rubber
gaskets to ensure against leakage.
The system may be equipped with orifice plates if required,
for balancing of flows and pressures during commissioning.
Sampling ports are provided in the ducts, both to facilitate
balancing and to provide access for gas sampling.
pjJ1480rp 012591
5-1
