The report concluded "The
hock Creek drainage was determined to contain significant natural heritage resources
(those species or communities determined by CNHP to be rare, threatened or endangered
or of high significance) and was denoted as a natural heritage corrservattorr site."
Iloth these communications contain numerous recommendations based on the need to
preserve the area and study the relationships that exist at many levels that are important to
the ecology of RFETS.
1JSDOE is in the preliminary stages in the preparation of a conservation plan at RFETS.
It will take several years of study in the region to have the data and analysis to formulate
and implement such a plan.
CERFA certification and development and implementation of the conservation plan are
requirements DOE must meet to fulfill its obligations at RFETS. Once completed DOE will
possess the framework to allow access to the resources on site by others, such as WAI, Inc.
The attached comments detail more specific questions and issues with the RFETS and with
respect to the hydrogeologic conditions relative to each of WAI's responses to the "adequacy
review" for each permit application.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me at 692-3013, Elizabeth Pottorff,
692-3585 or Jeb Love, 692-3511.
Very ruly YourC
to Tarlton, Manager
Rocky Flats Program
cc: Jackie Berardini, CDPHE
Tom Looby, CDPHE
Dave Weber, CDOW
A:ichard Meyers, WAI
Joe Weinand, DOE
Martin Hestmark, EPA
Caren Hellnor, Jeffco
