The report should have stated that there would be two lakes
created by the mining.
If the existing lake is not used for recharge, the cone of
depression would change, however, the impact should not be
too significant in terms of the number of additional well
owners that would be affected. The eastern boundary of the
cone would be more uniform than originally calculated.
There would be no increase in the impact to the north, south
or west. A copy of the revised groundwater map is enclosed
which shows the revised estimate of the impact zone.
12. The volume of groundwater entering the pit is estimated
based on field observations of other dewatering operations
along the South Platte River in the immediate vicinity. The
range given accounts for some variability in the amount of
pit being dewatered, the time of year, the river stage, etc.
which can affect the amount of inflow.
The values for permeabilities in the area can be found in
Table 1 of the report on groundwater impacts.
13. If additional wells are impacted, they would be handled in
the same manner as all wells in the vicinity. All data
collected would be submitted in the annual report as
requested.
14. A considerable portion of the work involved in constructing
these structures will be handled in the earth moving costs
that are covered in other parts of the bond. The major pay
items that would be involved would be some minor additional
excavation, rock riprap and filter blankets and concrete.
The following costs for the hydraulic structures are
proposed as part of the reclamation costs:
