' Bob Oswald
Re: St. Jude Mine, Permit M-1978-039 Fl'R
Response to April 2003 Comments
Site Conditions
Buried Tanks Sizes: The two buried tanks in the mine yard have the following dimensions:
- northern tank is 16' long and 4' diameter,
- southern tank is 10' long and 3'8" diameter.
Building Floor Slab: The St. Jude Mine shop/dry/office is a 50' x 40' metal building. The floor
slab is generally 4 inches thick, although there may be areas of slightly thicker concrete due to
irregularities in the substrate during placement of concrete. The concrete slab is reinforced with
wire mesh, and occasionally minor amounts of trash steet were placed in the pour for additional
strength.
Powerline Ownership: The Operator has provided maps showing ownership ofpowerlines in the
local area of the Sunday group of mines. These maps are on file for the Sunday Mine, Permit M-
1978-285 and the West Sunday Mine, Permit M-1981-021.
Iu the vicinity of the St. Jude Mine, as shown on the I" = 100' site map, the powerlines are the
property of the Operator.
Topsoil Stockpile: After the I" = 100' site map was prepared (version now on file with the
Division), further site review was conducted. The original site map showed the location of a
small topsoil stockpile near the entrance to the mine yard. What had previously been shown on
the site map as a long bench along the south side of the mine yard in fact appears to be surficial
material that had been pushed up to form the long bench. The Operator proposes to add this
material to the topsoil inventory. The estimated volume of stockpiled material is 1,400 yd'. The
material is stable and secure from erosion as it lies against the existing hill slope.
Corrective Actions
The remaining Corrective Action of marking permit boundary corners in the field can be
completed upon approval of the proposed Technical Revision to modify the Pennit boundary.
Also following approval of the Technical Revision, the Operator will finalize the site reclamation
map.
Sincerely,
T~ U
Terry V. Wetz
Director of Project Development
International Uranium (USA) Corporation
Enclosure
