D.3.2 Location of Existing Facilities <br />benison's closest local mine office is in Egnar, Colorado, located approximately 30 miles <br />southwest of the mine. Existing surface disturbances are shown on Figures C-1 and C-2. <br />Existing facilities at the Topaz Mine portal area consist of the following: <br />• Topaz Mine portal <br />• Existing Waste Rock Area (WRA) <br />• Topsoil stockpile <br />• Maintenance shop <br />• Designated parking area <br />• Buried water tanks <br />• Drill water tank <br />• 1,000-gallon diesel fuel tank <br />• Electric power line, poles, and electrical switch gear <br />• Air compressor and receiver tank <br />• Mobile storage boxes <br />• Septic tank <br />• Access roads <br />• Existing diversion channels and existing culvert <br />These existing facilities are discussed in more detail below. <br />Vent Holes -The Topaz Mine has one existing vent hole (T-1), located approximately 0.5 miles <br />south of the portal, along the main decline and just south of an existing road. Vent hole T-1 is 6 <br />feet in diameter and is shown on Figure C-1. <br />Topaz Mine Portal -The existing mine portal is a[ the entrance to a single decline cut into <br />Gypsum Ridge and measures 12 feet high and 12 feet wide. The portal area is surrounded by <br />cribbing and is kept locked when the mine is unattended. <br />Existin¢ WRA -The existing WRA is located immediately north and northwest of the portal <br />entrance. The existing maintenance shop and portal area facilities are located on the western <br />portion of the existing WRA. The WRA consists of a bench structure with maximum bench <br />height of about 40 feet.
