~FARGE
NORTH AIIAERICA
AGGREGATES, CONCRETE
& ASPHALT
f. General engineering plan stating how the material will be placed and stabilized in a
manner to avoid unacceptable settling and voids.
The source of the backfill material will be clean and inert materials such as overburden and/or
washed fines from nearby Howe, Tanabe and/or Hazeltine sand and gravel pits. The wash fines
aze silt that is a mix of sand, soil, and other fine material that can be used as a growth medium. It
is similaz to some of the sediment found at the bottom of the M&G Pit.
Any coazse fill will be delivered by Lafarge using trucks or scrapers that will dump into the
designated fill area. A dozer will be used to push and compact the material as it is delivered. Any
wash fines will be pumped or hauled to the site. Fill shall be generally free of organic materials,
rubbish, construction debris, or other deleterious materials. The fill material is relatively fine
and free of large chunks and it will be generally wet when delivered and placed. Similar methods
were used at the Demott Pitt at 80`s and Dahlia with no adverse settling observed, as reported by
Albert Frei and Sons' M&G Pit TR-5 Notice of Backfill Activity. Compaction shall be consistent
with that required under MLRB Regulation No. 3.1.5(2) for stability. When backfilling is
complete, we will spread approximately 4 inches of silt fines or topsoil as a growth medium on
the filled area to provide a seedbed for revegetation.
If you have any questions please call me at 303.657.4054.
Sincerely,
~-
Steven T.
