r
access the east side of the conveyor. A wide track snow vehicle will be used to
access the conveyor along the 21 % grade.
The conveyor will roughly parallel the existing Colorado Public Service Company
powerline from the point where the conveyor leaves the existing railway ROW.
PC3 will transverse approximately 6200 feet of proposed new affected land from
the point where the 21 % rise begins to the point where it reenters permitted
existing affected land at the southwest corner of the East Branch Reservoir
wetlands. At a point approximately 600 feet beyond where the conveyor re-
enters the existing permit area, PC3 will enter and cross the wetland at the far
south of the East Branch Reservoir. The wetland crossing will be approximately
800 feet (disturbing 1.54 acres of wetland), beyond which the conveyor will follow
a course adjacent to the eastern side of the reservoir and west of the existing
railway bench to the mill.
• As the conveyor enters the mill area, it will rise onto an elevated structure which
will pass over the existing road into the mill. This raised structure will pass the
conveyor over the Scale House and the corner of the Packing Dock to the
transition house where a new drive and transfer house will be constructed to load
ore from the PC3 Conveyor onto the modified ore storage conveyor (#1).
Construction design for conveyor PC3 will be similar to that for PC2. Standard
modules will be 20 feet in length each holding 4 forward carry idler frames and
two return idler frames. Modules will be mounted on precast concrete ties along
the existing railway ROW until the conveyor leaves the ROW. These concrete
ties will be sized to provide stability for modules to withstand wind loads against
the cover of 85 mph.
NHe
8
January 16,1998
Plan dm
