Table D-2: Minim Areas
ermit rea escnptton creage
1. Undisturbed Land 10.79
2. Mining Phase 1 10.76
3. Mining Phase 2 18.21
4. Mining Phase 3 19.71
5. Mining Phase 4 15.17
6. Mining Phase 5 10.02
Total Permit Area 73.90
Note that as seen on Map C-3, Phase 1 occurs within the same area as Phase 2, but simply above
it. Therefore, Phase 1 does not count towazds the total disturbed area.
Mining will progress through the Phases numerically. The topsoil and overburden which has
previously been stockpiled in Phase 3 and in the berms will be used to reclaim the previous
azeas. By only moving material from the stockpiles when reclamation is required, material
moving will be reduced, as well as the maximum azea to be reclaimed being reduced. Any fines
from the crushing/screening operation will either be sold or salvaged and used in the
reclamation. A table of expected mining lives for each Phase is included in Table D-3. The life
of each Phase is based on the anticipated annual average tonnage.
Table D-3: Mining Life by Areas as of the end of 2006
Phase Acres Tons Life (years)
1 10.76 250,000 0.8
2 18.21 881,364 2.9
3 19.71 953,964 3.2
4 15.17 734,228 2.4
5 10.02 484,968 1.6
Total 63.11 3, 04,524 11.0
Note that the azeas above only include the azeas in the mining phases; not the perimeter areas,
and is based on an annual average of 300,000 tons per yeaz sold.
The existing entrance to the pit on Highway 550 will continue to be used for access to the pit.
The production from the pit is not changing, so a new access permit will not be required for the
Colona Pit November 06 D-6
