E-2
The reclamation plan is amended as Follows:
Developed Surface Water Storage Reservoir
The Hazeltine Pit, Parcels A, through Parcel E and the Brinkmann-Woodward Pit are being
converted to a surface water storage reservoir (WR).
As part of development of a surface water storage reservoir and to prepare the site to comply
with current state regulations, Denver Water has installed a slurry wall around the perimeter
of the described area, including the Road Runner's Rest II (permit M-1979-195). A separate
amendment will be filled for the Road Runner's Rest II property. Plans and specifications
for this slurry wall aze included as part of this amendment. The slurt•y wall construction
consists of preparing a working bench, excavating a deep 3' wide trench into bedrock, filling
the trench with a slurry mixture of bentonite clay and water, mixing the excavated material
with more bentonite clay and native materials and backfilling the trench with this mixture.
After the slurry wall is complete the bench area is restored and reseeded. After the slurry
wall is properly cured, the ground surface is restored to its original condition resulting in no
visible structures above ground.
The slurry wall will provide an impermeable barrier that will prevent the ground water from
entering the water storage reservoir, as required by the Colorado Department of Natural
Resources, Division of Water Resources.
Hydrologic Balance
The ground water hydrology and hydrologic balance is discussed in detail in Exhibit G -
Water.
Water Conveyance Structures
As part of the development of surface water storage facility, there will be several water
conveyance structures added to the facility. Inlet structures to covey water from future
storage facilities to the south and east will be installed as some future date. An outlet
structure necessary to control deliveries of water to the South Platte River from the storage
facility will also be needed. The pipe portion of the outlet facility will be installed as part of
the construction of the roadway embankment for the 120~h Avenue extension project.
Because the water storage facility is located within the existing South Platte River flood plain
there is a possibility that spillways or hazdened (rip rap) areas will be needed to prevent flood
flows from eroding embankments adjacent to the river.
Top Soil
Top soil that was removed from Parcels A and B and other areas on the site and has been
stockpiled on the site. The slurry wall contractor is required to use all available top soil in
