September 27, 2006
Office of the State Engineer
Colorado Dirision of water Resources
818 Centermial Bldg
1313 Sherman St.
Denver, CO 80203
lze: Site description: Gravel pit operating on the west edge of Granby near the junction
of Highways 34 e~ 40, with proposed expansion into the Great Divide Head Lettuce
Colony. This operation is located in Water District 51.
Dear Sir.
Please note thaYattached is a copy-of the Mining commission's. report on the site
described above. Our understanding is that the Mining Commission isn't required to
notify you about this site. This particular site is of grave concern to those of us that live
in the great Diride Head Lettuce Colony that share the water table. I will be referencing
this report.
The water in the ponds memioned in the report has, in time past (actually until 2 nights
before inspection when it was backfilled)had been pumped out of those ponds and used
by the operators of this pit. We believe if they ere going to use water out of the ground in
that pit they need a well permit The operator claims they are using another water right
from an adjacent landowner. If that is coaect we feel it should go through the water
court so that it can be administered by the water cotnnrissioaer in district 51. We have
not been able to obtain any record of change of use of this water. Does your water
commissioner in district 51 administer this water for gravel pit use?
if you could please look et this situation and let us know what is correct and what is not?
Thank you for your tigne.

R16 .-gg~
3C~o~
7v-5 ~ ~ -~3~g 9 ~
~~.~oX
c~t,t?t~•r•~{,
~o ~v y~
(~ 9 ~
Gooo lC; e ,Zooo @ ~a~a , ~~-~-
Sin IY, /! ~~~.
~t.~" _
