the permit. Please refer to Rules 1.1(6) and 1.1(49) for what may constitute an amendment or a
revision to the permit.
4. Please provide additional detail and designs on construction of the slurry walls around Longhorn and
Sharkey Lakes. Please include the dimensions and composition of the slurry walls, describe how
they will be keyed together, and how they will be constructed azound the gas/oil lines and wells.
Please clarify if Platte Sand and Gravel intends to install a surface ditch or drain along the south side
of Shazkey's Lake as recommended by GEI Consultants, Inc. If so, please locate such ditch/draln on
the map and provide the applicable designs.
:Rule 6.4.7 Exhibit G- Water Information
ii. Rule 6.4.7(3) requires that the applicant provide an estimate of the project water requirements
including flow rates and annual volumes for the development, mining, and reclamation phases of the
operation. This would include volumes of evaporative loss expected during maximum pit
disturbance as well as during final reclamation. Please revaluate the estimated project water
requirements based on the lining of Longhorn and Shazkey Lakes.
7. In conformance with Rule 6.4.7(4), please state what surface water rights exist or will be used to
divert water into the ponds to achieve the post mining land use of developed water resources.
E. Please state what components of the original groundwater monitoring/mitigation plan will change as
a result of lining Longhorn and Sharkey Lakes with a slurry wall.
9'. Please state what changes to the floodwater mitigation plan will be made with the lining of Longhorn
and Shazkey Lakes. The flood mitigation plan must specifically address the potential for erosion of
the lateral berms that will carry gas/oil pipelines during mining and following reclamation with a
slurry wall in place. Attached, please find the Division's May 17, 2001 letter that addresses
riverbank and pit slope armoring at the site. Please review this document, and address accordingly
in regard to any changes with the installation of the slurry walls.
Rule 6.4.12 Exhibit L- Reclamation Costs
10. The Division will estimate the cost to reclaim the site once the applicant provides additional detail
on the slurry walls and addresses the concerns noted in this letter.
Rule 6.4.19 Exhibit S-Permanent Man-Made Structures
11.. During the pre-operation inspection of July 7, 2004, it was noted that 12 new wells and associated
gas/oil lines have been constructed since issuance of the permit in 200i. The applicant must
maintain a mining off set distance of 200_feet of any structure or demonstrate_t<:at mining will not
affect the structures. If agreements are forged with persons having an interest in the structures, and
the agreements aze drafted in the forma*. required by Rule 6.4.19 and Section 34-32.5-115(4)(e),
