Setbacks between each of the mining areas and the property boundary have been maintained to protect the
integrity of the adjoining land. The sand and gravel mining process unit be conducted using loaders. and/or
excavators. Blasting of the resource is not necessary. Haul trucks, or loaders and conveyors will transport the
resource to the nearby crushing and screening area, or the ultimate delivery sde. The crushed and screened
material will then be loaded, Vansported and stockpiled in the staging area whoro R will be used in asphalt and
concrete production, or hauled to a construction site for use. Each phase includes a layer of sand and gravel
up to 25 lest thick. Gravel exUac6on occurs in approximately 20 foot lifts until the undertying bedrock stratum
has beon reached.
CRUSHING AND STOCKPILE AREAS -The excavated gravel resource is crushed arxf stockpAed according to
size near tho mining area. Maximum processing Is approximately 4,000 tons per day. Since a portable cnrsher
a used, the location of the crushing operation changes as the mining proceeds across each of the miring
areas Used asphalt pavement and concrete rubble is also stockpiled within the staging area for future crushing
and/or during [he reclamaton process. Once the asphalt and concrete is crushed to its proper size, it rs
stockpiled for use as a recycled material in new construction. Occasionally, sdl that has been determined to be
Tree of debris and inert may be brought to the sfte and stockpiled for use in construction related acthntles or, for
the reclamation eNorts.
por7able and will be relocated as minir
eNorts proceed across the various phases.
Portable asphalt plant currently located near the
southwest comer o/Phase 1.
ASPHALT PRODUCTION • A portable asphalt plant may be erected on the site from time to tlme. Material
crushed on sRe is used for asphalt production. Maximum production for the portable plant 5 up to 4000 tons
per day. Asphalt production is seasonal and nonnalty occurs between April and October The plantwnll meet or
exceed all State and Federal pollution requirements, and rs inspected on a regular basis by corporate and
governmental authorities. Components associated with the asphalt plant include: Ipuid asphalt storage.
aggregate feed bins. mixer, conveyors, lime silo, truck loading equipment, power supply and distribution.
From dme to tlme a paving project requires special and unique asphalt mix. When this occurs, a second
portable esphaft plant may be erected on the site. Some paving protects may require paving during night time
hours. Area lightlng will utilize portable. low-lovel "light plants' These speaal projects generally last 90 to 120
days.
CONCRETE PRODUCTION - A concrete batch plant has been erected within the staging area. The plant
operated year round and can reach pock production rates of 200 cut>tc yards per hour Apparatus associated
with the plant include: cement storage with a dust collection system. water storage, and feed bins with a
conveyor system. An equipment repair building is located adjacent to the plant site.
