6.0 EXHIBIT E - DISTEL PIT RECLAMATION PLAN (REVISED
SEPTEMBER 1, 2004)
The revised reclamation plan includes the majority of elements from Aggregate
Industries (AI) existing Distel Pit Reclamation Plan (which includes the Peschel,
Sherwood, Bigelow, Distel, and Longmont properties). The revised plan includes
reclamation of the Sherwood property (which is part of the permitted Distel property),
and direct surface water flow from Sherwood into a series of ponds to be constructed
on Longmont's Bigelow property. Reclamation will be completed as part of
Longmont's open space master plan for the St. Vrain river corridor and will include
wetlands, ponds and upland meadows. The final land use and layout of the reclaimed
azeas has been developed in conjunction with Longmont Pazks and Recreation,
Boulder County and other land owners to ensure compatibility with the long term
planning goals of the area.
6.1 Reclaimed Landform
The currently approved Distel Reclamation Plan calls for the creation of approximately
73 acres of open water and 28.4 acres of wetlands. The revised Reclamation Plan for
the combined properties will include creation of eight (8) ponds with a combined size
of approximately 60 acres along with associated wetland areas of approximately 30
acres. The remainder of the disturbed area will be reclaimed as uplands.
Approximately 443 acres will be reclaimed at the Distel Pit (Longmont, Distel,
Bigelow, Sherwood and Peschel). The approximate location of the wetlands and
ponds to be constructed during reclamation is illustrated on the attached Exhibit F.1.
The final location of these units is somewhat dependent on the post-mining
topography of the disturbed azea.
The total estimated area to be reclaimed and the associated landforms aze summarized
in the following table:
Combined
Laodform Wetlands Ponds Uplands Landforms
Acreage Totals 30 60 353 443
8852004
