Henderson Permit #77-342
March 19, 1981
Page Four
this should become necessary, we would, of course,
obtain the proper permits and temporarily place the
stream in a culvert covered with mine fill.
Reclamation of stream modifications would be to
remove the fill and culvert and return the stream
to its original length and grade with all shores
laid back to a slope of 3:1 or less steep and
revegetated to open forest. Appropriate habitat
reclamation measures would be implemented through-
out the length of the reconstructed stream.
6. Please describe how many inches of topsoil will be
replaced on each area included in this amendment.
At this time, no additional tailing deposition is
planned. Still, the established quantity of
tailing may occupy more than the 1314 acres
indicated in the original application. The reason
is that it may become necessacy to construct an
additional tailing delivery line around the western
edge of the pond. If implemented, the final
topography of the tailing pond would be bowl shaped
with the low point located nearer the center of the
pond as opposed to the present method of deposition
which produces a low point along the upstream edge
of the pond.
If the additional tailing delivery line is
constructed, the additional acreage within the
tailing basin to be covered by tailing would be 200
acres. As such, 323,000 yd3 of additional soil
would be stockpiled from within the basin to
provide the equivalent one foot depth of soil
stipulated for capping the remainder of the pond.
The soil would be placed in one of the existing
designated stockpile areas. Stockpiling would be
postponed as long as possible to minimize the costs
and surety would be provided in advance via our
regular biannual bonding cycle.
Other than the tailing pond, no change to the
existing permit is proposed with respect to
topsoil. All other disturbed areas either have no
existing topsoil to save or will have high quality
subsoil conducive to revegetation. All available
