Olive, however, that species is entirely located in azeas that will be mined, and the trees
will be destroyed as part of overburden removal. The tamarisk is located azound the
former lake edge, of which two sides will remain intact, and on the north side of the
Merit #2 oil well, which will also remain intact. Please see attached portion of the
approved mine plan map, at a reduced scale of 1 in. = 400 ft. This map shows the
location of the tamarisk highlighted in yellow and the location of Russian Olive
Mghlighted in green. There appears to be no other tamarisk on adjacent properties and
the tamarisk on the Turnpike mine site is isolated at the former lake edges.
I consider that there is less that I.5 acres of total tamarisk infestation and the price given
for control of the weed is about $80.00/acre. It is pretty inexpensive to apply the
herbicides "Arsenal" or "Habitat" from ATVs. At this cost, I see no reason to adjust the
amount of the reclamation bond due to this TR.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and timely approval of this TR and please
contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding this bonding and warranty.
Sincerely,
~~;~i~
Rob Laird
Land Manager
attachments
cc: file
