Box 1240
Grand Junction, CO 81502
Re : Woodring Pit - Gravel Extraction
Dear Mr . Kirtland:
This letter is in response to your request to expand the pit area
on this site on State Highway 330 . The use began more than 20
years ago with Mesa County as the permittee and is grandfathered at
this time . There is no need for renewal or amendment with Mesa
County if extraction continues within the boundaries of the parcel .
A site inspection by Joe Beilman and me in July revealed that the
• access road is in good repair with a gravel surface . The mined
area is not visible from the highway from either direction. The
nearest homes are 1/2 to 1 mile away across the highway on a bluff ,
and the hill on the east side buffers two homes located that way.
Impacts to this area should be minimal .
Reclamation efforts must comply with requirements in the Mesa
County Land Development Code as found in Chapter 10 . I have
attached those for your reference .
If you have any further questions , please call me at 244-1771 .
Sincerely,
.-1c1
'`i inda Dannenberger
Planner
