Lafarge has reached an agreement with
Albert Frei & Sons that will allow Lafarge to mine up to the property line on the north end of
Stagecoach Pit, and to continue mining the southernmost end of Frei's property within their
permitted mine limit.
This will allow creation of one water storage vessel combining mine cells of approximately 34
acres at Stagecoach, and approximately 10 acres on the southernmost portion of Frei's property.
The Frei property is a part of DMG Permit M-1977-526, and Frei will be amending this permit to
reflect the change in mine plan. All of the property previously permitted under permit M-1977-
526 will remain under that permit.
Revised Reclamation Plan Exhibit F shows the finished water storage reservoir. For Lafarge's
Permit M-1983-067, the effect is to eliminate approximately 700' of sloping, grading and
reseeding on the North end of the property as shown by the contours of the final pit.
The Construction Observation Report shows that the slurry wall, as allowed by amended permit
M-1983-067, has been installed in accordance with DMG requirements. Since the slurry wall
has been completely installed and will be monitored during mining for leaks, Lafarge requests a
reduction in the reclamation bond to 20% of the original amount allocated for slurry wall
construction ($515,844). The new amount required for the slurry wall line item of the bond
would be $103,169 to allow for any maintenance or repairs, if necessary.
LAFARGE WEST, INC. ~~V - `f~
10170 Church Ranch Way, Westminster, CO 80021 ~.~- _, ~/~/
Office: (303) 6574000 Fax: (303) 657-4037 ~''P
