Arapahoe County Engineering thanks you for the opportunity to review this Reclamation Permit for the
Schmidt Construction Company Coal Creek Resources, Permit No. M-1988-044. Arapahoe County
Engineering has reviewed the Permit and has the following comments.
This mining operation will be required to go through the Arapahoe County's review and approval process
for a Use by Special Review (USR) case (a four to six month process from the date of formal application).
This process was described in a letter to the applicant on December 22, 2005 and is attached to this letter.
In addition to the requirements stated in that letter, the applicant will be required to provide and obtain
approval of a Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control (GESC) Report and Plans (see Arapahoe County's
Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control Manual). After an initial review of the mining permit application,
the mining process and reclamation does not follow County criteria for land disturbances. The applicant
will be required to abide by County criteria and should update the State permit to follow the most restrictive
requirements for this mining operation.
