I would like to share the following comments, which mainly involve the reporting and
documenting of the project after construction is completed.
1. The basis and assumptions of the engineering appear sound. The watershed delineations and
runoff calculations are adequate for this project.
2. The drawings are complete and, though recognized to not be the construction drawings per se,
accurate enough to be considered in this proposal. (Note: The elevation figures shown in cross
sections G-G', H-H', I-I', and J-J' aze not correct, but this is not a problem.)
3. The narrative and drawings did not include details about the concrete anchor blocks along the
bypass lines, and few details about the concrete outlet structures. This office wishes to ensure
that the design and installation of these (and all other) structures account for firm anchoring to
eliminate any lateral or vertical movement due to seasonal or moisture-related factors. We do not
wish to dictate the design criteria at this time, but wish to receive the "as-built" drawings after
construction is finished. This office will review such descriptions and provide comment at a later
date.
4. The project will require importing of quantities of certain structural materials, possibly to
include pipe bedding material, backfill material, and/or topsoil. The approval of this technical
revision will include allowance for importing suitable materials according to project needs.
However, such materials must be inert and clean, in addition to meeting their other specified
requirements. After the completion of the project, an accounting of the types, quantities and
sources of materials imported is to be provided to this office. Please note that all imported
materials must be obtained from legal, permitted sources.
5. It is acknowledged that there may be certain field changes required during the course of
project construction, or by other agencies during their reviews. If these are minor, your written
follow-up accompanying the "as-built" drawings should be sufficient to document them. If such
changes are significant, please contact this office to discuss possible need to revise this revision.
DIVISION OF
MINERALS
GEOLOGY
RECLAMATION
MINING•gAFETY
Bill Owens
Governor
Greg E.
