• Exhibit D
Mining Plan
The previously approved Mining Plan will not be changed for this proposed
amendment except as recommended by Mr. Greg Lewicki in the Slope Stability
Report (July 27, 2002) prepared for this Amendment Application.
This additional acreage is leased from Mr. and Mrs. Glen Black. The landowners have
requested that additional gravel be removed from their property to maximize resource
utilization and cash flow from the gravel resource at the site. This proposed
Amendment will add approximately 1 year to the life of this mining operation.
This Amendment will add approximately 3.25 acres of land to the approved permit
area. This increase will increase the area of affected land from 55.19 acres to 58.44
acres.
The proposed Amendment area adjoins the existing mining area. The Mining Plan that
has been previously approved for the Pit #1 operation will be extended to the new area
and mining practices will generally remain the same as approved in the original Permit
Application and Technical Revision 1.
At the suggestion of Mr. Greg Lewicki P. E. the author of the Slope Stability Report
that United Companies commissioned for the Delta Sand and Gravel Pit # 1, grave]
• will be taken from a steep face (0.5 H:1.0 V) until mining activity approaches the
Excavation Limit. The final slope of 3H:1 V will be achieved by cutting overburden
and gravel material from the upper part of the active face and filling the toe of the final
slope. Please refer to the Slope Stability Report by Mr. Lewicki that is attached to this
Application (Exhibit L Permanent Man-Made Structures) for additional details
concerning the engineering rationale for this method.
•
