B.I.c WATER CONTROL
The Wright Mine, as it presently exists from the portal to the Lease Tract property line is
dry. Exploration drill holes in the area to be mined encountered no significant ground
water. If any small amount of ground water is encountered during mining, it will be
contained underground in sumps and reused for drilling and dust control. Therefore, no
discharge permits are anticipated. If additional water is needed for mining purposes, it
will be purchased from a legal source.
B.2 VENTILATION, RADIATION CONTROL, AND SECONDARY ESCAPEWAY
Cotter Corporation owns a truck mounted emergency hoisting system. The planned
ventilation hole into the Wright Mine stope will be of sufficient size to accommodate the
emergency escape capsule.
An appropriate sized fan will be placed at the vent hole, and underground auxiliary fans
and vent bag will be used to supply adequate fresh air to the working faces of the
foreseeable development and mining. If development progresses a sufficient distance to
necessitate an additional volume of fresh air, other ventilation holes will be designed and
this Mining Plan will be correspondingly revised.
C.1 SURFACE PLANT
All surface disturbance around the Wright Mine portal will be on Cotter's private land.
This will consist mainly of a waste rock dump, temporary ore stockpiles, and area for
loading trucks. Separate ore stockpiles will be maintained to avoid commingling of any
ore mined from Cotter Corporation's private land with that mined from the Lease Tract.
Such ore will also be shipped separately from ore mined on the Lease Tract. Office
facilities, supply storage, and fuel tanks will be located here. No new permanent
buildings will be built. The building and electric substation at the SM-18 Mine portal
area will remain for the foreseeable future, and utilized, as needed.
Ventilation for the development and mining will require construction of a vent hole, to be
drilled from the surface into the Wright Mine stope in the NWl/4 SWI/4 section 27. At
the ventilation hole site, the surface facilities will consist of a power pole (or poles),
transformer, and fan assembly, probably including a small cement pad, some surface
casing, and the fan. Power will be obtained from the nearby San Miguel Power
Association distribution line, approximately 900 feet to the southwest. Most of the other
poles for the new power line will likely be on Cotter's private land.
A water tank and pipe into the mine may also be located within the same 0.12 acres
permitted for the ventilation hole or near the portal.
C-SM-18 Revised Mining Plan
8/30/04
