CashMineNon-DMOCertification AdrianBrown
' approximately normal to the main fabric. The orebodies in the district are in general located on the main
structures. The structures in the district also generally comprise permeable conduits in the rockmass.
' 2.4 Mining
The Cash Mine is an underground gold mine that currently extends to a depth of 668 feet below ground
level. The mine has been developed on nine levels, at an average vertical spacing of approximately 70
feet.
Development of the mine to date has been along two ore-bearing veins: the Cash Vein, and the Freiburg
' Vein. These veins are sub-vertical, trending approximately NE-S W, and they converge at the eastern end
of the mine.
' Mining has been performed in general by the overhand cut and fill method. The vein orebody is removed
by blasting the back and face, and the void created is backfilled with non-ore material to form the
platform for further extraction. Where there is insufficient waste for backfilling, the stopes were left
' open. An estimated 90,000 tons of ore have been recovered from the mine to date.
The proposed mining at the site will continue this mining strategy, possibly utilizing cemented paste
backfill for stope filling. No hazazdous of environmentally significant materials will be used in the
' mining process, or liberated as a result of it.
2.5 Processing
' The ore produced from the Cash Mine is to be processed in the Gold Hill Mill, an adjacent facility to the
north of the mine (licensed under Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety Permit
' M-1994-117). The separation process involves crushing and grinding, gravity separation to recover free
gold, followed by froth flotation of the gravity separation tailing to recover gold-bearing metal sulfides.
The gold-bearing concentrate will be shipped offsite for processing. Tailing from the froth flotation
process will be discharged to the double lined tailings facility at the site. No hazardous or
environmentally significant materials will be used in ore processing.
' The tailings from the site may be recovered, cement added, and pumped underground for use as
cemented backfill. It is anticipated that this cemented backfill will contain no hazardous constituents as a
result of ore processing, and will contain only trace levels of sulfide minerals. Further evaluation will
' provide detailed characterization of any tailings backfill that may be proposed in the future so that the
operation will continue to qualify as anon-Designated Mining Operation. A technical revision to the
mining and reclamation permit will address any proposed tailings backfill at a future date.
3. NON-DESIGNATED MINING OPERATION DETERMINATION
Certification of non-Designated Mining Operation status by DRMS requires that "...an operator
demonstrates to the board ... that toxic or acidic chemicals are not stored or used on-site and that acid-
or toxic producing materials will not be used, stored, or disturbed in quantities suj~cient to adversely
affect any person, any property, or the environment... ° 34-32-112.5 (2) C.R.S.
' i601A-20061210 2
