Grand Gravel Pit Conversion to 112 Adequacy Review July 5, 2005
M-1998-019 Page 4
21. Will the "portable scales and portable scale house" remain after mining is complete? If not, please
amend Exhibits E and F to indicate removal of these facilities.
22. If structures such as fences will remain after reclamation, please depict these structures on the
Reclamation Plan map.
Rule 6.4.7 Exhibit G -Water Information
23. Per Rule 6.4.7(3), please provide an estimate of the project water requirements including flow rates
and annual volumes for all phases of the operation.
24. Per Rule 6.4.7(4), please indicate the sources of water and the projected amount of water to be
obtained from each of the sources.
Rule 6.4.12 Exhibit L -Reclamation Costs
25. The Division will estimate a cost to reclaim the site based on the information submitted by Grand
Gravel in the forthcoming adequacy response.
Comments from Other Agencies
26. Enclosed are comments from the Office of the State Engineer (OSE). Please respond to the OSE as
necessary, providing a copy of your response to this Division.
During my inspection on Monday, June 27, 2005, Mr. Richard Curry indicated that the gravel deposit you
would like to mine extends approximately 100 feet west of the western boundary shown on the supplied
maps. As stated in my telephone message that afternoon, there are two options for including this area:
1) You could amend the conversion application to add this area to the maps and republish the public
notice, which would extend the decision date but not result in any additional permit application fees;
or
2) You could allow this conversion to proceed and file a permit amendment application at a later date to
include this area, with the associated public notice and a fee of $1,938.
Please be advised that the Grand Gravel Pit Conversion Application may be deemed inadequate, and
the application may be denied on July 12, 2005 unless the aforementioned adequacy review items are
addressed to the satisfaction of the Division, or the application amended and the decision date extended.
Alternatively, if you feel more time is needed to complete your reply, the Division can grant an extension
to the decision date. This will be done upon receipt of a written waiver of your right to a decision by July
12, 2005 and request for additional time. This must be received no later than the deadline date.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (303) 866-4060.
Sincere) ,
Kathleen L. Sullivan, P.E.
Environmental Protection Specialist
