Long
Grand Junction, Colorado 81506 Division Director
Re: 32 Road Pit, Permit No. M-1985-219, Amendment Application AM-Ol, Preliminary Adequacy
Review.
Dear Milt:
This Office has under taken the review process for the above referenced amendment. A Preliminazy
Adequacy Review (PAR) has been completed and the following issues need to be addressed or
corrected:
1) The legal description for the current permit should reflect total acreage of 25.1 rather than 33.2.
8.1 acres was released (AR-Ol) in April, 2002.
2) The supplied maps do not have the required signature of the qualified person who prepazed them
as required by Rule 6.2.1(2)(b). Please supply one original and two copies of a corrected versions of the
maps with signature and any other issues noted in the application review process.
3) The supplied maps show the areas as 1,2,3 and 4. However the Mining Plan text refers to these
azeas as A, B ,and C. Please put the referenced areas: A, B and C on the Maps for consistency.
4) Maps show topsoil stockpiles as being seeded. Please commit in the Mining Plan text to seeding
the stockpiles. Parkerson should also list the species of grass to be used and what application rates.
(NRCS recommendations aze fine.)
5) Overburden stockpiles aze "nearby". Please commit to overburden stockpile areas and address
erosion control measures for them in a113 phases.
6) The Mining Plan opening text says all topsoil is to be stockpiled. Does this mean that top soil
from B and C will also be stored in the noted area.
7) The overburden and topsoil depths are too general. Please commit to a range of topsoil depth
and overburden to be replaced. (for example: 6-8" of topsoil, 18-24" overburden) Breakdown the
anticipated cubic yards of material necessary for reclamation into overburden and topsoil. Parkerson
will need to commit to saving the required overburden and all topsoil to complete reclamation.
