Corey Pit No. 3
DMG 112 Permit Conversion Application
EXHIBTT E -Reclamation Plan
e) Reclamation of this site will consist of reducing high-walls to 3:1 (h:v) and maintaining
the pit floor at or near final grade as mining progresses. The high-walls will be sloped on
the east and west side of the pit as the mining face moves south so that there will be no
more than 800 feet of unsloped high-wall present at any one time. Topsoil will be
replaced on the finished 3:1 slopes and grass seed planted within two years of final grading
in a given area. The entire pit is considered one phase and we do not expect to perform
final reclamation until after all gravel reserves have been removed. We expect the life of
the mine to be approximately 20 years with the target date of Fall of 2023 for completion
of mining activities
f) (i) Final grading will leave pit walls sloping at no steeper than 3:1 (h:v). The pit floor will
be graded to slope gently (1%) to the north and west.
(ii) The original reclamation plan calls for reseeding with Pubescent Wheatgrass at 5.6
ibs. per acre, Smooth Brome at 3.91bs. per acre, and Orchard Grass at 1.21bs. per acre
drilled. We prefer a more varied dry land pasture mix that is locally avaitabte for $2.00
per pound. The seed will be drilled into the soil, at the rate indicated below, between
October 25 and Apri130, after replacement of topsoil on reclaimed areas.
Proposed seed mix
Species % of mix Drilled Ibs/ac
Lincoln Smooth Brome 18.32 2.10
Hycrest Wheatgrass 14.72 1.69
Tetraploid Perennial Ryegrass 14.93 1.71
Paiute Orchardgrass 14.07 1.61
Oahe Intermediate Wheatgrass 14.49 1.66
Revenue Slender Wheatgrass 9.82 1.13
Sodar Streambank Wheatgrass 9.88 11^13
Total 11.03
(iii) Fertilization will be done in the second year after seeding. Appropriate fertilizer
and application rate will be determined by soil test prior to application.
(iv) There will be no trees or shrubs planted with this reclamation plan.
(v) Topsoil will be replaced with a range of 6 to 12 inches.
