Corey Pit No. 3
DMG 112 Permit Conversion Application
EXHIBIT E -Reclamation Plan
a} The entire 50.73 acres of affected land will be reclaimed as rangeland planted with
grasses suitable for livestock grazing which is compatible with other properties in the vicinity.
The perimeter wilt be sloped at 3:1 (h:v) on the south, east and west sides using cut and fill slope
reduction and compacted by the earth moving equipment. The floor will slope gently to the
north and west to mirror the slope of the existing surface. 10 to 18 inches of overburden will be
spread over the slopes and floor using scrapers and dozers. 6 to 10 inches of topsoil will then be
spread over the slopes and floor using scrapers and dozers to provide growth medium. The haul
road through the existing pit connects with the existing road along the east side of the affected
land. This road will define the altitude of the ridge left along the east flank of the pit and also
serves as access to the existing overhead power line which will not be disturbed by the mining
operation.. This road shall remain after reclamation is complete for the landowner's use.
b) The post mining land use of rangeland is compatible with many properties in the vicinity
and is compatible with the General Agricultural Zoning District in this part of Montrose County.
c) Description for meeting the requirements of Section 3.1.
3.1.1 The post mining land use was determined according to the wishes of the owner,
Robert Corey.
3.1.2 We are not reclaiming substituted land.
3.1.3 Reclamation will be completed in a timely manner and final reclamation wilt be
completed within five years of completion of mining.
3.1.4 No public use of the land wilt be permitted.
3.1.5 Grading will create stable 3:1 slopes where high-walls had been and gently
sloping floors suitable for planting grass for use as rangeland.
Backfilling will be done with materials from the site and compacted by the
equipment used to do the backfilling.
Al] grading on site will occur on nearly flat slopes except the high-walls, which
will be performed at times when erosion due to weather conditions will be
minimized. No high-walls will remain after reclamation.
Backfilling and grading will be performed as soon as practical after mining so that
no more than 800 feet of high-wall is present at any one time and no more than 20
acres of un-sloped and graded disturbance will be present.
There will be no acid-fonning or toxic materials mined on this site. Any refuse
will be properly disposed of.
There will be no drill or auger holes or shafts on this site.
There will be no slopes steeper than 3:1 unless they aze undisturbed natural slopes
and no lakes on site.
Slopes will allow normal use of farm equipment in all areas that could be
cultivated, but the choice of reclamation is rangeland.
There is some inert material from outside the permit area brought into the existing
pit by a previous operator that we believe was properly noticed and placed by that
operator.
Material handled on site will not create an unauthorized release of pollutants to
the surface drainage system. A Stormwater Discharge Permit for Gravel Mines
will be obtained from the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment.
No Pollutants will be discharged to groundwater on this site.
