Logan Wash Mine TR No. 7
Reclamation of the mine benches will begin with regrading and recontouring of the bench
surfaces. Regrading and recontouring will be limited to eliminating any sharp topographic
features on the bench and blending such features with surrounding bench grade. Regrading does
not include pulling back dump outslopes. Regrading will include final construction of storm
water control channels as described in Technical Revision No. 5. Bench areas that have well-
established native vegetation will not be regraded. Once final grade is established, the surface of
the bench other than the storm water channels will be scarified (ripped) to a depth of no less than
1 foot to reduce surface compaction. Topsoil or subsoils will then be placed on the scarified
surfaces to minimum thickness of 6-inches. The soil surface will be seeded with a range drill
using the approved seed mix for the mine (Attachment B). Fertilizer will be applied at a rate of
200 pounds per acre with the seed or before final disking of the surface. A balanced 18-18-18
nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium fertilizer will be used. Certified weed-free straw mulch will be
applied at rate of 2,000 pounds per acre and crimped into the surface following seeding using a
mechanical disc technique (tractor with disc). Straw mulch will be applied manually or by a
mechanical spreader, whichever is most feasible.
The materials to be applied to the bench surfaces include those in the following table.
Bench Reclamation Materials

Material Application Rate
lbs er acre
Seed mix (Attachment B) 17.5
Straw mulch 2,000
Fertilizer (18-18-18 N-P-K) 200
Western Water 8 Land,lnc. 6
