Logan Wash Mine 7R No. 7
4.0 Reclamation
4.1 Soil Barrow Area
Reclamation of the barrow area will be conducted in a manner consistent with other affected
areas at the mine. The affected barrowed area will first be recontoured to blend with surrounding
topography. A minimum of 6-inches of soil will be lefr in place or redistributed over the affected
area. The soil surface will be tilled, disked, or scarified, seeded with the previously approved
seed mix for the mine, fertilized, and straw mulch will be applied and crimped in place. Silt
fencing or other erosion control structures (e.g. matting) will remain in place until the disturbed
surface is stabilized.
Recontouring work will be conducted with conventional excavation equipment (e.g. a D-6
Caterpillaz bulldozer or motor grader). Recontouring will concentrate on blending any steep side
cuts into the surrounding topography, and redefining any natural swales or knolls. The final
grade will not exceed a 2 foot (horizontal) to 1 foot (vertical) slope. Before seeding, the soil
surface will be scarified or tilled to depth of approximately 6-inches (more if the surface is
exceptionally compacted). Seed application methods will depend on soil conditions and grade.
Seed will be applied through the use of a range drill where possible or will otherwise be applied
by broadcast methods. The previously approved seed mix is shown in Attachment B. If
broadcast (surface sowing) seeding techniques are employed, the soil surface will be raked to
cover the seed. Fertilizer will be applied at a rate of 200 pounds per acre with the seed, during
initial tilling or disking, or before final raking of the surface. A balanced 18-18-18 nitrogen,
phosphorus, potassium fertilizer will be used. Certified weed-free straw mulch will be applied at
a rate of 2,000 pounds per acre and crimped into the surface following seeding using a
mechanical disc. Straw mulch will be applied by a mechanical spreader or manually, whichever
is most feasible. Straw or jute matting (erosion control blankets) will be installed in areas where
the final grade of the barrow area significantly exceeds a 3 to 1 slope. The following table shows
the reclamation materials proposed for use on reclamation of roads.
Barrow Area Reclamation Materials

Material Application Rate
Ibs er acre
Seed mix (Attachment B) 17.5
Straw mulch 2,000
Fertilizer (18-18-18 N-P-K) 200
Straw or jute matting Slo > 3:1
4.2 Mine Areas
As described in TR No. 4, the affected areas that remain to be reclaimed at the mine include the
Upper Bench, the Upper Bench Road, the Lower Bench, the Lower Bench Road, the Research
Mine Bench, the main Upper Access Road, and the Lower Access Road (see Attachment A).
Reclamation of these mine azeas will be conducted in a manner consistent with other affected
areas at the mine.
Western Water 8 Land, inc.
