Grand County would like to add the revision to add a changed
sloping plan to this Technical Revision. They request that
the mining and reclamation plans be revise to allow slopes
no greater that 2:1 for the entire mine area to match the
northern part of the east side. The original permit text
says the slopes along the old highwall would be graded 2:1.
This suggests that 2:1 slopes were acceptable to the Divi-
sion at that time. Review of the Pre-Mining Map show that
most of the original slopes were 2'/z:l or steeper, in some
cases nearly '/z:l. Grand County realizes that the Division
favors 3:1 slopes since they are easier to revegetate but
the limited resources in this mine dictated that we leave
steeper slopes.
2. Attached is a, revised and corrected Reclamation Plan Map
making the changes you suggested. Note that in the mined
area we used 10 foot contours instead of 2 foot like shown
on the original map. Setbacks are generally 25 feet from
permit line except on the steeper parts of the east line
where we used the break line between the very steep upper
slopes and gentler lower slopes. The reclaimed slope rate
is shown on the revised map as 2:1 and the green area is
where revegetation will be necessary.
3. We apologize for the confusion created by showing a pond on
the map. This area is a shallow depression where storm
water collects after heavy rain or during snow melt in the
spring. We have removed the pond from the Reclamation Map
