90LUTI0N PREPARATEON
Concentrations of 0.25-1.0% 10.596 is optimum) aro
rewmmended for solutions of NALCO 8873.
1. Pre-mix 8873 in the drum for a minimum of two
hours for each new drum. Mix ten minutes prior to
each subsequent withdrawal.
2. Add sufficient water to the mako-up tank to cover
the agitator. Start mixing. The make-up water must
be clean and between 50 end 180°F.
3. With make-up wster flowing at maximum velocity
through the eductor portion of a modified Nalco®
Type III Disperser, pour the 8873 into the funnel.
The modification consists of the insertion of an
orifice plug (Part No. P45991 into the polymer
metering portion of the eductor.
4. After all of the NALCO 8873 has been added,
continue adding water to the tank until full; then mix
for 20 minutes to develop maximum activity.
Automated make-up systems aro availebb from Nakao.
Consult your Nalco Representative for compk+te details.
NANOLINO AND lTORAO!
NALCO 8873 may cause skin or eye inflation. Avoid
contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Do not take
internally.
Suggested in-plant storage limit is one year in unopened
drums.
NALCO 8873 should be rtored at temperatures between
50 and 100°F. Although 8873 hes complete freeze/thaw
recovery, storage below 50°F may cause handling
difficulties related to increased viscosity.
Consult your local Nalco Representative for complete
bulk storage recommendations.
•
•
eooo
7000
5000
5000
4000
3000
2000
1000
FIGURE 1 -Viscosity (in cp)
NALCO 8873 in Tap Water (70° F)
FIGURE 2 -Viscosity (in cP)
NALCO 8873
2000
n5o
1500
1250
1000
0.50 1.00 1.50 2.00 40 60 80 100 120
%Product Temperature Degrees F.

The above viscosities are based on tap water having 100 ppm hardness and a temperature of 70°F.
