RECLAMATION PLAN
Pueblo East -Mixture for Use on Topsoil Stockpiles - (broadcast seeding)
Species Variety Ibs/acre PLS PLS seeds/sq foot
Western Wheatgrass Arriba 8.0 20.20
Slender Wheatgrass San Luis 6.0 21.90
Tall Wheatgrass Jose 10.0 18.14
Alkali Sacaton Salado 0.50 20.18
TOTALS= 24.50 80.42
Based on NRCS recommendation with modification for temporary growth on stockpiles.
Alternate Reuegetation for Industrial Areas: In the event the plant site and
other lands intended for industrial purposes will not be used for those purposes
immediately after completion of the operation, it will be necessary to revegetate these
lands. In that case, topsoil will be spread in accordance with the approaches described in
the topsoiling section of this plan. Planting will be with the Topsoil Stockpile Protection
mix described above. This mixture is intended to survive in the drier conditions of a
stockpile or a very upland area and should do well on these sites.
Alternate Revegetation for Reservoir: In the event no lessee is available at the
end of the operation who is interesting in utilizing the basin for water storage, the basin
will need to be revegetated. Woody species will be strictly avoided as they could create
problems with future use of the basin for water storage. Emphasis will be on herbaceous
species, primarily grasses and wetland species. Wetland species will be established in the
lower elevation areas and in small depressions in the bottom of the basin where
rainwater may collect. More elevated and drier areas on the bottom of the basin will be
planted with the dryland pasture mix. The following mix will also be used on the basin
slopes. No topsoil will be spread within the basin, so growth density, at least initially,
may be low except in wet areas. However, due the basin being closed, protection from
erosion should not be a problem except on the slopes where the dryland pasture mixture
should do adequately in the overburden derived growth medium.
The following seed mixture will be used in the Reservoir revegetation, as well as
for the reservoir area above the high water line if the reservoir is actually established.
Pueblo East Pit Amendment Ex ibit E Page 9
