revegetation. When the eastern limit is reached the final slope
will also be mined 2:1. A 34~ slope is planned for the mine floor
to provide positive drainage across the mine floor. This slope
will be from the toe of the east side to the mine limits on the
west. The Mining Plan Map shows how this would look when mining
has progressed part way thru the new area.
Along the southern edge a sight berm is currently being left
to limit visibility into the mining area. This berm leaves a
portion of the north slope of the draw that parallels the south
permit line and screens the mining activities from properties to
the south. This berm will be extended into the new area to serve
the same purpose. In the new area a portion of this unmined berm
will be left when mining ends. This is being done to preserve
the road and shop building owned by Thompson Properties and to
screen the eastern floor of the site from neighbors to the south.
The western portions, from a point 25 feet west of the shop
building to the west end of the existing berm will be mined as we
pull to of the mine. The Reclamation Plan Map - Exhibit F
shows how we expect the site to look when reclamation is com-
plete.
The arrows on Exhibit C-1 - Mining Plan Map show how we will
progress thru the new area. We estimate by adding the new area
the life of the mine will be extended from 10 to 15 years.
Mining Timetable
ACRES AVERAGE ANNUAL
MINING AREA YEARS
TOTAL AREA
MINED AREA PRODUCTION
TONS~YEAR
Existing mine area 1-3 53.20 26.10 100,000
New area 11-13 16.42 13.11 100,000
Entire site 12-16 69.42 39.21
4
