New sediment fence installation below the lower staging area (existing waste rock dump)
was completed in September, 2006, down gradient several to a few tens of feet below the
2005 fence. Additional sediment catchment potential was enhanced by the placement of
boulders and sediment fencing in the bottom of shallow drainageways. These structures
will help to control off site movement of sediment and/or stormflows until lower rock
dump sediment basin construction is completed.
During June and July, 2006, culvert installations and storm control construction was
performed on Forest Service Road 228, approximately one mile from US Highway 50.
