MINING PLAN
10. Bomb Targets Buffers: The mining plan maps show a 500 foot buffer around the three
nearby bomb target areas. These areas are excluded from mining until such time as they are
cleared of ordnance or it is considered safe to mine in those areas. The lease already excludes all
the bomb target areas. If those target boundaries change as a result of new information
gathered in the clean up process being conducted by others then the new target boundaries wilt
be included and suitable adjustments made in the plan, as needed.
See page 19.
11. Upland Mining - Mining in upland areas will begin at the higher elevations and will
generally proceed downslope toward the drainages.
See page 19.
12. Lowland Mining - In lowland areas mining will generally progress from the lower
elevation portions of the lowland location toward the higher elevation areas.
See page 19.
13. Drainage Crossings: Cross at locations where no wetlands are present at the crossing or
within about 50 feet upstream or downstream from the crossing. If the drainage is active then
provisions must be made for establishing water crossings.
See page 20.
14. New roadways will avoid crossing noxious weed infested land until that land has been
appropriately treated and a mostly weed free corridor established.
See page 21.
15. Ordnance Checking on New Roadways: Within the area of the East Valley, new roadways
outside of mined areas or areas to be mined, will be checked by Schmidt personnel for
indications of ordnance.
See page 21.
16. Fuel Storage Requirements -APPLIES TO ALL LOCATIONS: Temporary and more
permanent fuel storage areas must be properly located and protected.
See page 22.
17. Pre-mining Treatments: Pre-mining treatments are intended to reduce problems in the
mining and reclamation procedures. Implementing these inspection and treatment procedures
are important to efficient and safe extraction of the sand and reclamation of the land. All lands
to be mined will have these procedures applied as described in this Mining Plan.
See page 24 for upland procedures and page 29 for lowland procedures.
18. Topsoil removal will occur to the depth indicated in the pre-mining assessment. In the
event pockets of soil are encountered that are thinner or thicker than the indicated depth,
adjustments in the salvage depth will be made. Topsoil stockpiling will occur at appropriate
locations on land adjacent to the anticipated mining area.
See page 26 for uplands and page 31 for lowlands.
Coal Creek Sand Resource Amendment 3 (2005) - M-1988-044 Exhibit D Page 4
