-, <br />WILLIAMS CONSTRUCTION contractors '/ <br />(970) 327- 4218 <br />Honk Wil/ian-s, President <br />Post Office Box 704, Norwood, Co%rodo 814 hex 327-4157 <br />June 12, 2002Q~s;O° ~~~ J ~F® '°~ <br />°, s ~ <br />~/ 4~;°° ~ <br />Division of Minerals 8c Geology, Colo DNR~ 'O~8° <br />Grand Junction Field Office ~s°%ev ~U~ a ~ ~ <br />101 South Turd Street, Room 301 <br />Grand Junction, CO 81501 ~ ~ ~ <br />Attention: Steve Shuey, Environmental Protection Specialist <br />Subject: Angie Pit, File M 2000-049 <br />Technical Revision IV c~ <br />Dear Mr Shuey: <br />Louisiana Land & Gtave/ Company, LLC, permittee of the Angie (gravel) Pit, is <br />requesting a Technical Revision to the Regular (112) Reclamation Permit, File No- M <br />2000-049 to make minor adjustments to the mining plan in the vicinity of the Gurley <br />Irrigation Ditch. <br />The methods of mining described in the original Exhibit D Mining Plan and Exhibit E <br />Reclamation Plan, as revised by Technicat Revisions I, II, & III, are to remain unchanged <br />with the following exceptions listed below. <br />1) Initial excavation of the current Phase I (southwest of Gurley Ditch, southwest corner <br />shall of permit area) 9s to commence with at the west boundary and proceed west and <br />northwest towazd the Gurley Ditch. <br />2) Per a written agreement with the Gurley Ditch owner, The Farmers Water <br />Development Company (FWDC), mining is to be allowed to within 50 feet of Gurley <br />Ditch (southwest bank), pending FWDC approval of the plan currently under <br />consideration to minimize seepage of Gurley Ditch by use of liners or closed pipe <br />(syphon) installation. Topsoil may now be removed to within 50 feet of the ditch and <br />the 100-foot azea between the excavation and the 50-foot ditch buffer is to be used for <br />temporary stockpiles oftopsoil, overburden, products, and associated operations. <br />Mining to the new 50-foot canal setbacktnay begin as soon as the agreed Gurley Ditch <br />liner (or pipe conduit) construction is accomplished. A current damage reunbursement <br />agreement is on file in Exhibit S of the original permit to satisfy the requirements of <br />Rule 6.4.19(a). <br />3) Expansion of the northeast mining limit boundary of Phase I increases the `affected <br />area' from 7.7 acres to 17.47 acres. The current permit azea of 71.8 acres remains <br />unchanged. The assertion in Exhibit L that "...since at no time will more that 10 <br />acres of the permit area will be open and an-reclaimed; l0 acres is appropriate as <br />
