RECEIVED <br />UPLAND GRAVEL PIT NO. 1 JAN 0 9 2006 <br />EXHIBIT J Division of Minerals andDeology <br />Vegetation Information <br />The excavation site contains no trees or tall shrubs. Some low brush is presently established in <br />the lower areas. Native species of brush and fortis consist of salt brush, bitter brush, <br />shadscale, goldenrod, yuka, wild onion and sage brush. Several varities of cactus are present <br />but are primarily the "prickly pear" type. <br />Native grasses established up to four (4) inches high on the slopes and flat areas are Luna <br />Pubescent, Wheatgrass, Poloma Indian Ricegrass and Primar Slender Wheatgrass. Some <br />non-native grasses present are Rye grass and Cheat grass. <br />Vegetation is very sparse and the range in its present condition has an estimated annual <br />production for forage on the site of 1/4 ton (500 Ib.) per acre (See aerial photo Exhibit C). <br />(See enclosed 5urficial Geology Investigation by Grand Junction Lincoln Devore, Inc.). <br />
