This approval is based on the site
inspectionsyou and I conducted on May 9 and August t0, 2000 and on the information provided by you. The estimated pit
inflows from precipitation and outflows from pumping and a small amount of evaporation indicate that this pit has been
lined to the Derformance standard referenced in the August, 1999 State Engineer Guidelines for Lining Criteria for
Gravel Pits. Meeting the performance standard rather that the design standard means that all water inflows and
outflows for this pond must be accounted far on a weekly basis.
You indicated to me during the August 10 inspection that you would keep the pit dewatered until it could be filled with in-
priority water. I will leave it to you and Water Commissioner Dan Brazelton to work out the details of what is needed to
satisfy Don for adminisirationandior accouniingfor this pit
Please ca11 me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
David L: Nettles, P.E.
Assistant Division Engineer
Pond#1 LovelandReadyMixLineOK.doc
CC: Don Brazelton, Water Commissioner
Bill McIntyre, DenverSEO
