Status of vegetative cover: Good to excellent. Total annual yield under excellent conditions
is 300-500 pounds per acre. A moist spring and summer has produced good conditions, offset by
grazing. Optimum ground cover is 25%.
3. Major species: Mountain mahogany, Skunk brush, Yucca, Bluestem grass (in high gypsum
soils). Gramma grass occurs in lower areas which will not be mined.
4. Invader species: The following species are most likely to invade a disturbed site: sleepy
grass, tall rabbit brush, and ragweed.
5. Reclamation seed mix (for grasses) recommended by Natural Resources Conservation
Service for site:
Seed Type Application rate Remarks
(lbs/acre
Blue grama 0.50
Western wheat 4.00
Indian rice grass 3.20
Little blue stem 1.75
Mountain Mahogany 0.50
Side Oats or REGREEN 9.00 Nurse crop
TOTAL 18.95 Pure live seed
6. Comments and remarks: Information from 1977 continues to be essentially accurate, though
improved grazing practices and reclamation of previously mined areas have improved overall
condition of the land.
Colorado Lien Company 16.10.95
112 Permit Conversion Application: Munroe Quarry CL-MQ-AP-1 1-D01-0995
