l J'
L. AL1 slopes, other than vertical sandstone quarry walls must be
2:1 (2 horizontal: 1 vertical) or less. This will decrease
water erosion of the fines and make reseeding more successful.
2: For final reclamation (at the end of quarry operations) all the
topsoil/overburden ehau2d be replaced evenlq over the level areas
of the quarry sad planted. A seed mix and the seedling list will
be prepared by the Division staff in the near future for use on
sandstone quarry sites north of Lyons. We realize that certain
sites will have no topsoil/overburden to be spread hack over the
site. Were none is available, the site should be left in a clean,
stable condition.
3. Ia regards to your letter, what do you fill in with rubble and
topsoil as you go?
4. Our understanding of your reclamation plan is this:
a. Replacing topsoil/overburden oa non-productive sand-
stone areas as the quarry operation proceeds.
b. Seeding and planting these areas when they are no
longer going to be disturbed.
c. Building your house on a portion of one quarry.
d. Leveling any remaining rubble piles and cleaning
up the site of old vehicles, machinery and trash.
Please comment and clarify the above reclamation plan.
RECEIli~~~
APR 13 2005
Division of Minerals and Ceolapy
